After about ten minutes, take the towel off. Get a second towel and fold it like you did with the first one. Now get some water and pour it on the spot with urine. The technique here is to work your way towards the center of the spot. This way, you won’t spread the urine to other areas of the carpet. Let the water work its way inside the carpet. After thirty seconds, take your clean folded towel and place it on top of the spot with water. Leave it for thirty minutes. Make sure that during this time you won’t touch the towel and take it off its spot.

The next step involves about the same process except that you use a different mixture. When thirty minutes have passed, repeat the entire process but this time use a mixture of water and vinegar and leave it there the whole night.

When the morning comes you will be surprised to find that the carpet is now dry and odor-free. Use some carpet deodorizer if you think that there is still a foul smell. Make sure to wash all towels and keep them for future use in the same situation. You will never know when your pet will do it again and when you are going to repeat the process of pet urine removal.

You also need a black light to show you where the crystals are hiding and to let you know if you got them all otherwise you will continue to have that nasty cat pee smell.

You can use some cool water and then keep blotting but this often has a tendency to spread the crystals around further.

I would not use anything else on the stained area except for an enzyme based urine cleaning product that has been proven to clean cat urine stains completely. Look for a product that includes a blacklight so you don’t miss any spots and be sure and follow the directions exactly as many people buy a urine remover, ignore the directions and then complain that it didn’t work.
